We hear it all the time - shop your closet before you shop elsewhere. And it's true! To start off 2017, Ricky and I cleaned out our closets and I got rid of nearly 30 articles of clothing. I had no idea that I had over 20 dresses that I hadn't worn in forever. We go through our closets at least every other month, if not every month. It's a good reminder of what we have and I'm able to put together outfits with articles of clothing that I forgot I had or move things to the front of my closet that I haven't worn in a while. It also gives us space in the closet for things we want to hang and wear more often. We constantly have a Goodwill box going and add to it throughout the month.
When I was in college, I would clean out my closet and give the clothes I didn't wear to friends. This was also a great way to mix up your wardrobe. Skype/Face Time/Video with your friends, clean out your closets at the same time and trade clothes with each other. This is a great way to get rid of the things you don't wear and gain a couple of new pieces too!
